Updated this week

About

Learn how to create customized reports (analytics) using the Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS Self-Service Reports (Analytics) feature. This functionality allows you to add and customize widgets within your reports to present data in the most meaningful way.

  • Build personalized reports based on preferred widgets, catering to specific audiences and purposes.

  • Use widgets from existing reports and widgets bank, or create custom widgets.

  • Have granular control over the layout of your reports. Resize and reorder widgets to fit your specific requirements, ensuring your reports are visually appealing and data-rich.

Audience

This feature is mainly designed for:

  • Security Managers: Overseeing the organization’s security posture, analyzing reports to make strategic decisions, and ensuring compliance with security policies.

  • Security Analysts: Focusing on detailed analysis of security data, identifying vulnerabilities, and generating reports to provide insights to the Security Manager and other stakeholders.

Permissions required

Admins must enable the "Analytics" access role for the relevant users.

Enabling access to this module allows the user to:

  • Access the reports on the Reports page. Note that all roles can see all reports based on their access to business groups.

  • Sharing: Users can share customized reports with others authorized for the included business groups.

Note: This permission is enabled by default for all existing users on the platform.

Custom Report Creation Capabilities

  • Give the report a meaningful name and description

  • Add existing widgets from other reports and widgets bank

  • Customize the report’s period and background filters

  • Resize, reorder, and delete widgets as you please

  • Create widgets from scratch

  • Keep reports private (for your eyes only) or share them with other team members with access to the same business groups (Assets) in the report

Creating and Sharing Customized Reports (Analytics)

To create self-service reports (analytics):

  1. Open the Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS platform and navigate to the Reports section.

  2. Click "Add a Report" to create a new custom report.

  3. Provide an indicative name for the report, such as "Executives," to represent its purpose.

  4. Choose the relevant reports from the existing list, select widgets from the Widgets Bank, or create your own widgets (Customize a widget).

  5. Utilize the filters on the right pane to refine and narrow the data.

  6. Click "Save".

  7. Once you save a report, you'll have the option to select its visibility.

    Set Visibility:

    • Private: Default setting, the report is visible only to you.

    • Shared: Makes the report available to users with access to specified business groups.

      • Note: If the "Shared" option is grayed out, you lack permission to share reports. To share reports, ensure you have the "Sharing: Share customized reports with other users who have access permission to the business groups in the report" permission enabled under Analytics.

Manage Access Based on Business Group: If a report contains data from multiple business groups, users will only see data relevant to the groups they have access to.
Note: Once a report is shared, it cannot be changed back to "Private".

Using the Widgets Bank

Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS has curated Stand-alone widgets based on customer requests. Access the Widgets Bank, which provides a selection of these widgets to add to your custom reports.

  1. Click the drop-down list and browse through the available stand-alone widgets.

  2. Select the desired widgets to review and incorporate into your custom report.
