How to test a playbook?

Quick guide on how to test the playbook functionality

Updated over 4 years ago

Automation Playbook provides the ability to automate many of the ongoing vulnerability remediation tasks – from ticket opening and routing to full-cycle alerting and patching.

Before running a live playbook on the production environment, we highly recommend conducting a test playbook to sense the functionality before going live. To run a test playbook, follow the steps:

Test playbook for a single run on a group of vulnerabilities

  1. Create the playbook according to the guide/video.

  2. On the automation screen, choose the test playbook and click "Run now".

  3. Track the playbook activity via the Activity log to sense the playbook progress.

  4. When finishing the tests, delete the playbook.

Test playbook for multiple runs on a group of vulnerabilities

In cases of few test on the same group of vulnerabilities, follow the steps:

  1. Create the playbook according to the guide/video.

  2. On the automation screen, click on "Run now" on the test playbook.

  3. Track the playbook activity via the Activity log to sense the playbook progress.

  4. To create the second run, go to the Automation screen and duplicate the test-playbook.

  5. On the automation screen, click on "Run now" on the second test playbook.

  6. Repeat on steps 4-5 as many times as needed.
