Platform updates

Redesigned connectors setup page

The connectors setup page has been reimagined to offer a clearer, more intuitive experience. With a modernized layout and enhanced color palette, it now aligns seamlessly with the updated Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS platform theme. This redesign simplifies navigation and configuration, making the setup process faster, more efficient, and hassle-free.

  • Enhanced visual clarity: The layout is now cleaner and more intuitive, making navigating and configuring settings easier.

  • Clickable Table of Contents (TOC): Quickly jump to the desired configuration section with a simple click, streamlining the setup process.

  • Updated terminology and configuration section: The "Inactive Assets" section has been renamed to "Data Pulling Configuration" and features a restructured configuration box for improved clarity and usability.

Rollout note: This feature will be gradually rolled out throughout January to ensure a seamless experience for all customer instances.

Data updates

SmartCVE: AI-Generated CVE Titles

We’re excited to introduce an AI-powered capability that generates descriptive titles for CVEs without a textual name. For CVEs with only an ID (e.g., CVE-2024-1234), the AI analyzes data from the trusted National Vulnerability Database (NVD). It then creates meaningful, descriptive titles that provide actionable context, helping you better understand and prioritize vulnerabilities.

This functionality enhances clarity while preserving data integrity, transforming raw vulnerability data into a more readable and actionable format for improved decision-making.

  • Generate descriptive titles: Automatically assign descriptive titles to CVEs without a provided name, derived from trusted data sources.

  • Identify transparently: Identify AI-generated titles by dedicated AI symbols and tooltips.

  • Control usage: Enable or disable the feature in the settings for flexibility.

  • Protect privacy: Share only CVE numbers with the AI model; no customer data is involved.

Why does this matter to you?

AI-generated titles provide better context for vulnerabilities, helping you quickly understand and prioritize issues. This feature enhances readability, saving time and boosting productivity.

What should you do next?

  1. Enable the feature: Navigate to Settings > AI Features category and toggle Generate AI vulnerability descriptions for CVEs on.
New names will replace the CVE ID titles after the next data sync (usually within 24 hours).

  2. Review Titles: The new titles will replace CVE IDs. Hover over any title to check if it was AI-generated.

Improved reports and filtering enhancements

New Card widget

We’ve added a new Card widget to the widgets bank available for custom reports. The Card widget allows you to create a single card displaying a key metric of your choice, such as Risk Mass, SPR, Asset Count, or Vulnerability Count. Customize the name and description to better align with your reporting needs.

New Multiple Value Card widget

The Multiple Value Card Widget expands on the functionality of the Card Widget by allowing you to display up to four key metrics within a single view. This enhancement provides greater flexibility and visualization options, making it easier to track and compare related metrics in your custom reports.

Advanced filtering capabilities

The filtering capabilities in Reports have been significantly enhanced, making it easier to customize and refine your data views. You can now apply filters dynamically at both the widget and report levels.

Apply filters on specific widgets

Click on a specific widget/visual and apply the desired filters to impact only the desired visual.

Filter entire reports

Click on any empty space in the report to apply filters at the page or report level to impact all widgets and gain a comprehensive view of your data.

Save filters for custom reports

Save the applied filters when creating the report for consistent reference and efficient workflows.

Enhanced report editing

You can now edit existing reports to include new widgets from the widget bank. This capability ensures seamless updates as new widget options become available.

Updated fixes in the vulnerability details card

In the Vulnerability Details Card, we’ve updated how fixes are displayed under the Fixes tab. Previously, fixes were shown based on all the assets associated with the vulnerability, which often resulted in displaying multiple fixes. As of this release, fixes are now presented based solely on the unique vulnerability, regardless of the associated assets.

This update ensures that only the most relevant fixes for the specific vulnerability are displayed, simplifying remediation efforts and improving clarity for users.

Connectors and integration updates

More accurate “Last Seen” for the Intune Connector

We’ve updated how the "Last Seen" date for assets is determined for the Intune Connector. Previously, this was set to the Vulcan sync time. Now, the "Last Seen" date is mapped to the last check-in time from Intune, ensuring more accurate asset tracking. As a result, more assets may be archived based on the last seen date timeframe set by the user.

New Connectors are now available
