Updated over a week ago

We are thrilled to announce a notable restructuring of the monthly Vulcan Cyber product release email to help you more easily navigate the latest additions and optimized features of the Vulcan Cyber platform.

Changes to this email align with the three main components of the newly branded Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS which delivers vulnerability risk management, application security and posture management, cyber asset and attack surface management, and cloud security solutions for you and your team.

The latest available features from Vulcan Cyber will now be organized and presented in these categories:

  • Platform: Encompasses the latest developments in use case and solution alignment, user experience, look and feel, platform navigation, structure and more.

  • Data: Find updates on new integrations, correlation, data normalization and more.

  • Operations: Covers new capabilities related to risk prioritization, remediation task automation and process orchestration, remediation intelligence sharing and collaboration, reporting and more.

Let’s dive into the Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS February release highlights.

Platform updates

Asset hub

Vulcan Cyber ExposureOS now includes a new unified assets page which consolidates data across asset types (image, website, code project, host, and cloud resource) into one comprehensive view.

  • Unified asset view: One page showcasing all assets and removing the need for type-specific tabs.

  • Asset type filtering: Filter assets by type within the same page.

  • Asset type indication: An asset type column with dedicated icons for each type.

  • Source tracking: Enhanced source column displaying the origins of merged assets.

  • Responsive KPIs: Dynamic KPIs provide insights into assets by source, type, SLA status, and risk level with interactive elements to filter assets by specific criteria.

Support limitation: Hyperlinks from Vulcan Cyber reports to the new consolidated Assets screen may not work as expected.

Rollout note: The rollout of this feature will be conducted in phases to ensure optimal deployment to all customer instances. Customers will be informed prior to this feature being enabled in their environment.

Column picker

The "column picker" feature makes getting to the data you need on the Assets and Vulnerabilities pages easier and faster by allowing personalized organization of table columns.

  • Reorder columns via drag-and-drop directly in the table or through a dedicated column picker.

  • Add / remove columns to tailor the table view to specific needs.

  • Global settings save changes across tabs and sessions and are tailored to each user.

  • Reset to default allows users to easily revert changes.

Data updates

Configure sync time

You can now configure the time and day your Vulcan Connectors sync to your Vulcan Cyber instance.

  • Customize sync days with user-friendly defaults and validation to ensure at least one day is always selected.

  • UTC and local time display simplifies scheduling ensuring clarity across time zones.

  • Hourly precision directs selection to full hours and streamlines the scheduling process while ensuring consistency in data fetching.

Operation updates

Modify Jira assignee dynamically

Vulcan ExposureOS now extends its “dynamic assignee” feature to Jira ticket creation, previously limited to email tickets. This capability, known as "dynamic properties," allows for the assignment of asset owners to remediation tickets, streamlining the handoff.

Open

  • Support for Jira tickets: Dynamic assignment is now extended to Jira, enhancing ticket management capabilities.

  • Dynamic properties: Utilizes dynamic tags for efficient ticket assignment to relevant asset owners.

  • Enhanced remediation efficiency: Simplifies the process of assigning Jira remediation tasks, improving response times and accuracy.

Report on vulnerability instance fix date

The "fix date" field previously reflected the date a vulnerability was marked as fixed within Vulcan ExposureOS and now represents the fix date reported by the Vulcan Connector. This change aims to provide a more accurate and relevant fix date, representing the actual day the vulnerability was addressed.

fixed on
  • Accurate fix dates reported by the Vulcan Connector.

  • Vulcan Connector-first approach prioritizes external source data for fix dates, ensuring relevancy.

  • Fallback mechanism to the Vulcan platform fix date is used when one is not provided by the Vulcan Connector to maintain data integrity.

Edit risk in playbooks

The "edit risk automation" feature enables vulnerability managers to automate the adjustment of risk levels for specific vulnerability instances on a large scale.

  • Automated risk adjustment enables automatic modification of risk levels for vulnerabilities, reducing manual maintenance efforts.

  • Advanced filtering utilizes Vulcan Magic Search to apply rules and criteria for risk changes.

  • Streamlined compliance aligns risk management processes with organizational policies and compliance requirements.

  • Error reduction minimizes manual entry errors and enhances accuracy in risk assessment.

  • Audit and override support facilitates audit logging and override of previous risk adjustments.

Export data configuration

Vulcan ExposureOS now offers the ability to customize data export for vulnerabilities and assets.

  • Select columns to include in the export of vulnerability and asset data.

  • Control the order of the columns in the exported file.

  • Export configurations are saved on a per-user basis and remain consistent across sessions and tabs.

Assign roles to multiple users

Vulcan ExposureOS now supports batch role assignments allowing administrators to efficiently assign specific roles to multiple users simultaneously.

  • Batch role assignments allow admins to assign roles to multiple users at once, streamlining setup and maintenance.

  • Efficient user management significantly enhances administrative efficiency through rapid role allocation.

  • Large group handling is designed to help admins manage roles across an enterprise user base.

Apply business group visibility for saved reports

Vulcan ExposureOS now offers enhanced control of report visibility introducing options for reports to be “private” (visible only to the creator) or "shared" (accessible to users with permissions for relevant business groups).

  • Enhanced report privacy and sharing controls tailor report visibility to ensure confidentiality.

  • Granular access control customizes report access based on user permissions to enhance security.

  • Role-based analytics permissions support sharing with authorized users to streamline collaboration.

Build ticket from template

Adding to the one ticket template previously available, we've provided the ability for customers to create an unlimited number of templates.

  • Template customization allows the modification of the default template, or start from scratch for an even more tailored approach.

  • Easy duplication and modification for further customization.

  • Template selection for tickets allows for the direct selection of the ideal template when creating tickets and automation.

  • Enhanced communication ensures clear, actionable tickets tailored to your organizational language and remediation processes.

Rollout note: The rollout of this feature will be conducted in phases to ensure optimal deployment to all customer instances. Customers will be informed prior to this feature being enabled in their environment.
